What is a pylon sign?
Pylon signs provide businesses with maximum visibility. They are typically installed next to busy roads or highways or near the entrances to shopping centers, malls, office parks and apartment complexes.
Pylons are distinguished from other signs by their height and size. These signs have several types. Single and double pole signs are usually simple light boxes on top of exposed metal poles. Covered pole designs wrap the poles in materials such as aluminum, stone and brick to create a more finished presentation. Covered pole pylon signs may also incorporate durable foam products that look like stone and brick but cost considerably less.
Properties with multiple tenants almost always feature pylon signs with advertising panels that can be sold to tenants. Digital displays can be integrated into pylon signs to promote timely events and provide yet another opportunity for businesses to earn ancillary revenue.
Pylon signs are typically replaced after 10-15 years. New pylons may still use the old sign's poles and foundation allowing owners to save on those expenses which can then be invested in sign enhancements such as digital displays or LED lighting.
